It is with sadness we announce the recent death of our esteemed friend and colleague Pa Houlihan. In his 92nd year, Pa was truly one of the most remarkable men of his long era. A long time collector of Circus memorabilia and noted historian of many local events, such as Puck Fair, Pantomime, Killorglin Railway, local customs and traditions, Pa dedicated his life to storing and collecting newspaper cuttings, posters, programmes and photographs. His Basement Museum is a treasure horde of an unique collection which has been the focus of many National and International TV and newspaper reports.
Pa's great love of the Circus lead to telling the story of Johnny Patterson, which in turn lead to the musical dedication to the life, times and songs of Johnny Patterson. It was fitting that the guest of honour at the World Premiere last August was Pa Houlihan. The whole team are delighted and honoured that he had a chance of seeing his love of Circus coming to life in the Musical production of Johnny Patterson.
Pa has left his beloved Killorglin a unique legacy. We thank him and have no doubt he will be happily remembered for generations to come. Declan Mangan.
